Hermès Menswear F/W 2019

The menswear shows came in haute and heavy for the fall/winter 2019-20 collections. This season was especially strong, and telling for the fashionable male. Was it the heated political climate? or just the coming of age for menswear, yes we have definitely come a very long way in the design realm for men, but this year the showmanship game seemed to have gotten an extra boost. Womenswear has always run the show but now more than ever men are taking their place at the fashion table and man what a feast!

Hermès head designer Véronique Nichanian has created a masterful collection of understated elegance tinged with on-trend appeal.

Balmain

Balmain's Olivier Rousteing has created the antithesis of fashion genderization, the melding of masculine and feminine to the point where you can't tell who's who but then who cares really. The good thing is with the millennials changing the mindset on sex and sexuality anything is possible. Rousteing had a message to tell - that being one of who we are and how the world see us in the social media age and the comments made often devalue us as a whole. Statements on clothing is nothing new, it's the cleverest way a designer can both comment and criticize and sell garments at the same time. This mix of I-Phone ideology (models wore them on metal harnesses) and incredible fabrications that has created its own androgynous code.
